[Hallicrafters] SX-100 and inop S-meter

Hi All,
I'm still fussing with my friend's SX-100 Mk 1. I have it operating
on all bands but the S-meter just refuses to wiggle with tuning. The
meter is good as is the meter pot. I've replaced five of the ceramic
capacitors in the AVC line (C7, C13, C14, C17, C76) and C77. I've
checked most of the resistors and replaced a couple. The voltages at
the plates are low (e.g. 148 v instead of 170 v at the plate of V1).
I've tried substituting V7 the AVC detector.
If someone has been here before and can suggest someplace to look or
something to check, I'd certainly appreciate it. Ceramics have been
suggested as a source of problems but so far none that I have replaced
have had any effect. I have other projects of my own lined up on my
bench (Hallicrafters) and would like to finish up my friends receiver.
No charges for my time if anyone was wondering - I just like to get
Hallicrafters working properly. In advance, thanks.

P.S. Last weekend I passed the Extra Class exam at the Puyallup,
Washington Hamfest, now if I could just get my CW speed up a little I
would be happy - and get the S-meter working too.
