Thank you very much!
Great tips.
I just picked up an S95 (Civic Patrol VHF), non-working condition.
Keeping in mind that I'm a guitar amp hack who can only fix things if I
see the smoke being let out, here are my impressions:
First thing I noticed when I found the schematic was the series heater
wiring. Since one tube was blown, it just plain wasn't going to work.
Visually, it has a couple of loose or missing connections. These are my
favorite kind of repairs.
I seem to remember with solid state you're not supposed to troubleshoot
in-circuit. Does this hold for resistance or cap checks in hollow
state?
When I get everything sorted out, do I need to bring it up via variac?
How accurate are the schematics? The first resistor I checked was
labeled as 15 but the schem said 22. How does one tell what's SUPPOSED
to be there? The S120 schem was pretty accurate.
Much appreciated.
