Thanks to Gary -- our transformer guru and salvaged parts source-- for 
reminding us about the importance of replacing AC bypass caps. His 
message prompted me to immediately swap out the nearly 60-year old 
originals in my nearly completed SX-42 (all I've got left to do now is 
cabinet painting). It was something I had intended to do -- and should 
have done first, along with the three-wire AC cord installation -- but 
Gary's experience bumped it up to first on my priority list.  The result 
of the 20 minute operation was increased peace of mind, and -- as a 
great bonus -- the complete erasure of an annoying bit of AC hum that 
had still been discernable in the audio with the tone control in the 
"Bass" position.
