Well, at least I was honest about my motivation, Ed, though speaking a 
bit tongue-in-cheek.  Besides, I got an awful lot of valuable knowledge 
from you -- and I thank you for it! 

I'm not sure the BFO had ever functioned on the 10.7 MHz IF bands since 
I got the radio. Its absence didn't become apparent to me until I began 
alignment. The FM tuning meter had been working, though, until I worked 
on the function switch.
