Hey Rick,
    It's doable.  I've done two (and a SX-62).  The hardest part is the 
capacitors in the r-f section but by removing the side panel you CAN 
get at them.  Forcepts help as does a long-reach soldering tip.  I 
installed a terminal strip on one of the power supply capacitor can 
lugs and tied the new caps and wires to the strip.  I could send a 
picture if it would help.  Take your time and make LOTS OF SKETCHES as 
you go along.
