No you don't have to toss out that nice microphone. There have been quite a few discussions on other BA lists about microphone element replacement. These discussions started when Astatic stopped making replacment elements for the D-104. I've read several reports where folks are using the cheapie Mouser www.mouser.com microphone elements and having great success. One recent report I recall is where the author reported the $4 Mouser element sounded either as good or slightly better than the original element. I've heard enough of these reports so I believe the Mouser elements are a cost effective way to get those old microphones running again!

As Harry reported, Mouser is out of stock of the 25L022, and probably because all of us guys are ordering some. I ordered one from Mouser but its on backorder. I do recall Mouser estimating a late July expected delivery date. Harry gave me his last 25L022 to help me out in the pinch. Its likely the other ones that are in stock would work FB as well. Its incredible actually, spending only $4 for a mic element that sounds as good as the original.
