Mike,

I haven't seen the chassis coating that has been discussed but perhaps we are 
discussing something actually called alodine instead of anodizing. I believe that alodine 
coatings were applied to a lot of WWII & later electronics to protect against corrosion. I 
remember doing it in my Air Force days. It was a simple brush or dip on process which 
left a slightly shiny goldish surface whereas anodizing requires electricity to apply. Most 
anodized surfaces I've seen are flat, not shiny. I remember an old SCR-522 that I had 
that was alodined.
