Yup! It's one of those flash coatings that is so thin a brisk rubbing with a
coarse paper towel will cause the base to start showing through.

I've heard (on here I think) of pople who completely stirp the chassis and
have it redipped to get that original, *new* look.  Turning an HT-32, or
SX-101 essentially into a kit is a tad more work than I want.  I can get by
with a mottled looking finish on the inside. <:-))

One of the problems where this plating goes bad is sometimes a rough surface
and that'd take more than cleaning and dipping.
