[Hallicrafters] SX-17 "S" Meter

Larry, you are correct. I have that service bulletin. It is filed away with a
number of others that the HCI Web Master, Fred Mooney, KA1DGL, and I had planned
to put up in a special area on the site. However, his life was changed by his
employer, the USAF, several years back when an altercation overseas put all web
site plans on indefinite hold. Perhaps one day -

Bill,
The S-40 series of receivers did not have an "S" meter.  I think there 
was a technical bulletin on how to rig-up an external one.
