While we commiserate with Bill's grief, and search our memories and junk
boxes; it sounds like it's a good cautionary tale for the rest of us. When
the cleaning, recapping, alignment etc., etc. is all done, and it's time to
button up - turn off, pull and place the line plug _on_the_bench_ in front
of the radio, _then_ finish up putting sheet metal back together. Avoid
much tears. Sorry to hear it, Bill.

Just like the one about not sitting on a metal stool when powered-up, or
not putting your hands in a powered radio (certainly not _both_; one in
your pocket _if_it's_absolutely_necessary_ to poke a probe into the parts
that bite...) We had one kid at Memphis (NATTC, AFU-A school, '64-'65) who
did all of the above in the receiver lab, and we shook our heads and
wondered how he'd lived this long, and how long he'd last out in the
Fleet. Not paying attention? You bet!
