[Hallicrafters] Cooked something...

Nice subject...
Anyway, I turned on my SX-16 the other night and after years of use 
something decided to make a noticeable
sizzling sound. I haven't re-light it since. My electronics skills are 
dubious at best, attested to by my inability
to replace the audio xfrmr on my SX-15 as of yet. I am down to one 
working Hallicrafters *sigh* (S-22R).

I have poked around in the archives to no avail and am trying to find 
somebody here in the Southern
California area to either educate me on how to get her back up and 
running or fix her. As far as electronic related
tools, I own a soldering iron and set of really small pliers and 
nippers. I would appreciate some direction in this manner.
Heck, after it gets working, it might even be fun to align it too!
