Ya know, this issue if DeOxit being hazardous to phonelic switch wafers has come up
before. It would seem like Caig Labs would be the best source to confirm or deny. As
they are alive and well, has anyone ever thought to shoot them an email on this
question? I could find no warnings on my can of DeOxit D5 nor could I find anything like
a warning on their very busy website. I did learn that the stuff contains petroleum
naphtha, a trade secret active ingredient and propellents. As my only goal in studying
chemistry was to blow up things, I can't say what this stuff will do to phonelic. I can say
they don't blow up <g>. All of this is academic for me as I "switched" to gold plated
ceramic switches on all of my equipment years ago. Got'em from an audiophile. You
wouldn't believe the improvement they made. SSB now sounds sassy in the lows with a
bit of impertinence in the higher ranges.
