[Hallicrafters] HT-44 Drift

Recently got my first SX-117 / HT-44 / PS-120-150 combo after wanting one
for a long time.  The 117 is great. The HT-44 took some doing to get power
out of (abuse by previous owner somewhere).  Although it works, the
stability is terrible.  After warning up for several hours, the thing still
wanders a half KC in about 15 minutes.

Is this an old problem that everyone but me knows the fix for?   Any ideas
appreciated. (well.... at least ideas that do not involve dynamite or heavy
machinery).

The SX-117 is very stable, but I don't want to run the HT-44 from the
receive VFO.
