The original dials of the S-76, main and band spread were black with white
lettering and point markings as was the "S" meter. If your band spread dial
is off white (yellowed) as you say, I would say that is not original either.
This site http://www.antiquehamradio.com/Search.asp?OffSet=0&query=s-76
currently has (2) S-76's for sale or parting out. You may find what you
need there. I have used this gentleman in the past (for an SX-17 "S" meter)
and he seems to be reliable. Good luck.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Need S-76 Main Tuning Dial
Greetings to the list:
Am looking for a mail tuning dial for the S-76. Anybody got one?? The dial
in the receiver today has been hand made from a piece of 1/16" clear
plexiglas and a xerox'd paper dial glued to it. The bandspread dial is
original and off-white in color, part #83D427. Don't know if it has just
yellowed with age or was clear from the beginning. Are there any other
options if nobody has a S-76 dial? Have thought about the possibility of
using the S-40 series of dials and although green, would they work and I
just switch both dials to green......perhaps not the best option OR is
there another receiver that used the same S-76 dial that someone might have
on hand? Part # on the S-76 dial is 83C387. Please reply off-line and I
will email a summary to the list of the findings to the substitution
questions.
Many thanks,
K4LAJ
Don
