It was part of the radio aid package for the strategic Hamlet program of
the Vietnam War. The set was to be the village radio station. The HT 1
and 2 sets were to be used by combat patrols sent out by the village
defense forces. The TR 5 set was also part of the package but I have
never seen this set.

For Information on the set there are several sources, best source is the
technical manual for technical information. For general information on
communication in Vietnam, the book, "Vietnam,Test for Technology" is the
best book for information on communication. For general information on
the Vietnam War, Stanley Karnow's book is a good source but there are
probably other books.
