[Hallicrafters] S-38 BFO

Hi

I'm new to thist list...just restored my first Boatanchor, an S-38 and 
for the most part it works great. Does anyone have any suggestions re 
the BFO?  Seems there needs to more BFO signal level on strong CW 
stations. This is the original S-38 with the seperate BFO/ANL tube.
