Whether old Sol flares, hurls in our direction or just belches some flames of
fire and lightly toasts Mercury, the Saturday January 15th HCI 40 meter Net will
start at the appointed hour. Be there! As if those Astronomer guys got a decimal
point off in their solar life calculations, a week from now all that is left on
the surface of the Earth may be smoldering landfills! Man that is like
depressing! The Sun belched out 36 solar flares Friday, two more just prior to
midnight.

The pre-Net will commence at 12:30 PM EST, (1730 UTC), maybe earlier if I can
get the gerbils to wake up before their alarm clock, AKA dinner bell, cuts loose
with the sound of half a dozen starving large jungle Cats shrieking loud enough
to revive every deceased dog within the county! Give each one of them a little
tiny super vitamin nutrition bar with a pound of caffeine in it to jump start
them sprinting on the treadmill that turns the gearbox that spins the generator
that powers the Ham Shack. If the power drops suddenly, you will know one of
them had to take a nature break from its kidneys doing the old 'pea a puddle'
routine first introduced by college male students drinking more beer than a fire
engine tanker could carry!

The Net proper will start at 1:00 PM EST, (1800 UTC), come static, come snow,
come sleet, come freezing slush, come hail, come solar flares or a coronal mass
ejection filling up the field for the Super Bowl and turning the astro turf into
bubbling puddles of green plastic goo that reminds one of old Aunt Saliva's
scrambled green eggs and ham that just never came out quite right!

The frequency will be 7.280 MHZ lsb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and a 'new
age' rendition of that time honored rock and roll classic from the sixties
"Sunshine, Lollipops And There She Blows!". I will hear you then, so crank up
those Hallicrafters, heat up those finals and let's play with those things that
still go glow in the dark before we all become one ourselves!
