Hi Gary,
Rather than look for a "new old stock" multi section electrolytic which may
well fail soon, even if formed properly, the easiest thing to do is replace
each section with a new style separate capacitor. These are relatively easy to
find and will assure long trouble free operation. There is plenty of room under
the chassis for installation.
Please use caution when working on this AC/DC chassis. Use an isolation
transformer at all times, even when the set is back together, and preferably,
replace the original line cord with a properly installed polarized or 3 wire cord
set. If you look around, you can find an isolation transformer which will fit
on otr under the chassis Be sure the isolation devices are properly installed
when replacing the cabinet. If they have deteriorarted or are missing, replace
them with something suitable to continue the isolation.
I cannot help you with the control, but they are findable. Sometimes you can
even find a parts set at a reasonable price. I picked up a nice S-38E last
summer for $10.00 and the only thing wrong with it was a missing back, one
missing tube and 2 non original knobs.
73 and have fun with the restoration.
