Hi Peter,
I have mentioned this before but I will run it again for what it is worth.
When you start getting down to the metal screening on that type of speaker
grille, you can get a flocking kit at most craft stores. Basically, it consists
of a shaker can full of what looks like crushed felt and a can of adhesive
either in spray or brush form.
The flocking is usually available in several colors, one of which may suit
the application.
Application consists of cleaning the area if it is not reasonably smooth,
applying the adhesive, followed by the flocking. Shortly after application and
before the adhesive dries, rap the underside of the area which makes the
flocking stand on edge and gets rid of the excess. You might want to practice on
something before doing the real thing. If the flocking is not available in the
color you need, let the piece dry a day or two and then spray with the
appropriate fabric coloring. Works great and looks OEM.
73 and have a nice weekend,
John, W4AWM
