[Hallicrafters] Check Those Tubes

I had to chuckle at Bill K2WH's saga of the SX-111 wherein he found the
culprit to be a bad tube.

Similar saga here last week. My DX-100B popped the modulator current
sensing resistor when I turned on the plate switch in PHONE mode. I
replaced the resistor, flipped the switch and it seemed to work, but as soon
as I applied audio, "pop" went the resistor again.

Hmmmm. A friend stopped over last week, and I was lamenting about the
DX-100B, and he asked if I had tested the tubes. Well, as a matter of fact
I had, a few months ago All were OK. He said why not test them again?

I did, and found a VERY leaky 1625 modulator tube. With that replaced, it
was AM fun during my week off!
