[Hallicrafters] Guilt Feelings

I must confess........

I am still having strong guilt feelings about something I did 30 years ago.
I just cannot get it out of my mind so I will confess here using this forum
even though it may horrify some collectors of Hallicrafters gear.  Send your
children out of the room before proceeding further.  It is horrible.

I once had an SX-17, working condition, overall appearance by today’s
standards in excellent condition.  I used it as an IF for VHF work and
shortwave listening.  As a young man, I had other interests at the time and
the SX-17 took a back seat to more important matters such as girls.  What
else.  Eventually I lost all interest in ham radio and was no longer
interested in maintaining my SX-17.

Here it is -- I tossed the SX-17 in the morning garbage.

I can only plead insanity at the time.  Oh how bad I feel now about that
wonderful radio and wonder to this day where it went.  I can only hope a
good garbage collector (another ham) found it and gave it a good home.  Well
I got that off my chest and I feel better now.  Now that all of you know the
horrible thing I did as a young ham to my beloved SX-17. I am ashamed of my
past but I have made amends.  I have opened my home to orphaned, deserted
and abused Hallicrafters radios.  I have adopted numerous Hallicrafters
radios including another SX-17 and take good care of them, fix them when
they are sick and make sure they are exercised every day.  Thanks for
listening and helping to me relieve me of this heavy burden and I hope you
can forgive me and if you have an SX-17 with a 2" hole in the case right
over the rectifier to let out the heat (smart move on my part), you may have
the one I abandoned.
