The "S" meter installation is for relative indication only. The "S" meter
is placed in the B+ plate lead of either the IF or RF amplifier stage. Best
results are obtained by inserting the meter in the plate return of the first
RF tube.

I uploaded the instructions on how to do this on BAMA some time ago. Look
towards the end of the PDF file and you will find a very nice and clear
instruction set. I just looked at it again and all that is required is an
"S" meter (0-5 ma.) of course and a pot and perhaps another fixed resistor.
Look for "S Meter" in the Hallicrafters list for information on this
installation.

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Hallicrafters S20 S Meter

>From Joe in Okla. First I want to wish all a Safe and Happy Holiday Season
and thank the ones responding to my last email request for a output IF
transformer for my radio. I successfully found a replacement and the radio
now works fine. I now have one more request for a schematic diagram of the S
Meter circuit that plugs into the rear S meter socket of the S20. I would
like to build one to complete the restoration. I must mention the S20 is
different than the S20R as the S20 has only two IF transformers and one IF
tube and the S20R has three transformers and two tubes. I'm not sure if the
S meter circuits are the same? If someone can help me please contact:
w5jdy at cox.net I will gladly compensate. Joe w5jdy
