Getting the scaling right shouldn't be too much of a problem,
include a vertical and horizontal ruler in the picture.
With a program like photo shop, you can accurately measure and
set dimensions/scaling.
Some things to watch out for
- lens distortion. You may not want to use a full frame.
Most lens have distortion at the edges and less so as
you move inwards. You can easily see this photographing
a straight line edge to edge.
- get good flat lighting. Intense bright spots, (sun/flash)
will show up
- you do should photograph the image straight on. This can
be tricky. If you place the object flat on the ground, your
tripod legs will show up (at least they did when I did a panel).
If you don't, it will take on a trapzoidal look. Photoshop
can correct this as well.
Haven't tried the scanner. Not sure how it would effect depth of field,
e.g. panels with texture.
Cheers
Bill
