[Hallicrafters] Clear Coat

I have a fair amount of experience with "clear coat", but none on panels.
In every case whether gloss, or satin the clear coat makes a very evident
change in the apearance on what ever it's used.
All of the clear coats I've used were two part cyanolics which are quite
hazardous to use, but they sure are durable.
My self, I'd not want to use a clear coat on a front panel from an
appearance standpoint although the stuff sure is rugged and it, or most of
them would certainly protect the panel.
I'd like to get set up to use and learn how to use the silk screening
process so I could redo several panels.

Has anyone had any experience with putting a clear coat over front panels?
I am toying with the idea for my SX-42. Perhaps a local body shop could do
it.
