Typically the HT-32 series and the HT-37 are happier
with the 6146, 6146A / 8298, and the 6293 than with
the 6146B / 8298A or a 6146W with a code date of 1965
or later. Those 6146W tubes that have a code date of
1964 could be either a 6146A or a 6146B depending on
the manufacturer.

However, since C-44 is provided for neutralization if
you cannot come up with a pair of the earlier tubes
you can certainly try the 6146B and see if they will
neutralize. If they neutralize and hold the
neutralization then you are "home free". If not, then
go looking for a pair of the earlier tubes.

was reading about the different version of the 6146
tube and was wondering which version my HT-32
requires? the ones in it are marked 6146 and have
another number on them that includes 56, which I
assume is the date code?
