Strange you should note that color. I have an R-8-T (Dachis number) =
that
also is that color and exhibits the same characteristics (appears =
original).
However, the wood face plate "h" is black.
All other, including the R-12-T are black. I have wondered about it for
many years.

I've got an SX16, which is a light turquoise (blue-green) colour. This
appears to be original, unless both the cabinet and Front panel were =
cleaned
right down to the bare metal, resprayed, and the front panel engravings
re-done. Unlikely, IMHO, as the case is very rusty, and the paint =
peeling,
and there is no sign of any other colour underneath.
Yet everyone I know assumes that it must be a respray as "all =

are black crackle finish"
What colours did Hallicrafters use? Weren't the S-38s a dark grey =
crackle?
