Try this simple method:

Since most of us don't have a resistance decade box, you can use a pot
(variable resistor) and measure the resulting resistor value.
A note of humor: in a college lab, a professor caught me using a
decade resistor and a decade capacitor in an experiment and he said
"what is this, computer aided design?"....hahaha
