Ah yes, I have one of these. (Or something very close.) Mine is a metal  
cased version, but still a tube model requiring a 1.5V and 45V battery. One of  
these days I'm going to make an inverter for the 45V, because those batteries  
are outrageously expensive these days, and have a shelf life less than a year.  
And for those of you that have one of these GR jewels, remember to lock the  
galvanometer when not in use.

Amen! And even  if used infrequently, you can usually remember HOW to measure 
something without  having to resort to looking it up in the manual. :-)
