Hi List
DeOxit is available in several concentrations. The spray can is "D5" or 5% "protectant" -- mostly naptha based solvent (needed to clean away the gunk) and propellant (for the aerosol).
There is also D-100 in small containers of various sizes which is 100% protectant/lubricant and no solvent. That's for PM of already clean contacts. Even Radio Shack is carrying that one now and a few other Caig products.
The D5 product usually leaves enough magic bug juice behind after the solvent evaporates. Safer to use Cailube for pots than DeOxit. If you want to guild the lily, clean up with D5, let it dry, then add a bit more P/M with D-100. Don't saturate phenolic wafers with DeOxit. Those with close tolerances between laters/rotors/stationary parts will bind up -- at least temporarily - due to swelling.

Yep, I believe that D5 is actually a diluted version of Cramolin. The
original stuff used to be the savior of many a bc engineer with
squirrely controls. Potent stuff. A little glass jar lasted a long
time.
I used to use DeOxit for pots but switched to CaiLube which cleans and
lubricates, without the unwanted issues of swelling phenolic and the
like. For stubborn situations, a shot of DeOxit, some cleaning action,
then a final clean out and lubing with CaiLube.
Works great.
