On the subject of various kinds of "icumpucky" (technical term for any
chemical), I worked in avionics for some years, and frequently used some
stuff called "CRAMOLIN" (It's not only a contact-cleaner, but "enhancer" as
well... sort of resembles sewing-machine oil).- it's been mentioned here
before. It's not a cure-all, but was an instant fix for tube-type aircraft
NAV/COM's, where the switches would corrode and/or dry up.
Recently got a good deal on another SX-62A that sounded pretty squirrely...
I put small drops at each "section" point of the tuning cap, making sure it
was where the finger contacts hit, too. It IMMEDIATELY stabilized, and
began to work splendidly. NOT RECOMMENDED for wafer switches in anything
but RECEIVERS.
