A point in printer's terminology is 1/72 of an inch.

Anyone know how to measure letter height? I am looking at some dry transfer
lettering that is measured in
pt's or I think it means "point". How is this measured? I would like to
measure the lettering on my rig but
don't know how the point # is derived.
