Why don't you just "bite the bullet" and have a real silk screen made?  That
way it'll look perfect and just like the original.  There's loads of
companies around that can make one for you.  Even with all the fancy
graphics stuff out there, old time silk screening remains a very popular
method of labeling panels.

The decals, while looking OK at first are not nearly as durable as real
silk-screening.  Also, don't be tempted to use regular "paint" on the
screen.  Chances are, it'll screw up the screen and look like krap anyway.
Use real "silk-screen" ink for the job, or, have it done professionally.
(Not at a T-shirt shop either.)
