[Hallicrafters] Source for Replacement Cardboard Bottom Covers on Receivers

I have a number of S-38E receivers that really need the bottom cover
replaced due to warping, stains or discoloring.

This is the piece commonly found on the bottom of the receiver with the tube
layout label on it. The original cardboard bottom on many of these
receivers is typically in bad shape. Where do I get replacement cardboard?
I thought about it and then looked over at my office desk, and laying there
was a number of old (3) ring binders with the STIFF covers. Sacrificing one
of them, I cut open the plastic cover and pulled out a perfect replacement
for the bottom covers. It just needs to be cut and drilled to size, take an
image of the original label, print it out on the laser printer and presto, I
have a new, straight and original looking bottom cover.

Therefore, in short, if any of you need to replace the bottom cover and need
the material to do so, an old (3) ring binder is an excellent source. And
to thing I have been discarding these binders for years. Waste not wants
not.
