Yup... a piece of flat aluminum or whatever metal for the radio to sit upon,
while aligning it, does the trick.  Hammarlunds need such treatment as well.
At one time, I had some aluminum with a plastic over-covering - worked
great, and you didn't get nailed from providing a handy ground-return, while
forgetting to use the isolation xfmr.

Next question - how about some of YOUR techniques, concerning cleaning of
wrinkle-black panels, with labeling you don't want to lose.  I found that
washing the chassis or panel in a deep-sink with a soft toothbrush and some
dishwashing soap, then a complete rinse, finishing with spraying Scott's
Liquid Gold ONTO a rag, then wiping down the w-b paint, makes it look like
brand new.
