As far as taking care of your radio estate, I would suggest appointing
someone you trust to be totally in charge of liquidating just your radios.
This is as easy as adding one line to your will. This person effectively
becomes the estate executor of only the radio part of your estate.
Variations are acceptable such as more than one person can be named, or
mutual agreement between two, in that the survivor takes control.

A quick pass through video clip every couple months or so will keep the
inventory up to date too.

Hi Rich,

This is really easy to do in these days of computers, or even with just a
notebook. I have a list of each item, make, model, serial number, date and
cost
oq acruisition and suggested selling price on an Excel spread sheet. I keep
a
copy on my hard drive, my safe deposit box and in my personal papers and my
survivors know hwhere to find it and what to do with it. This is also
really
valuable for insurance purposes, thus the copy in my safe deposit box. While
you are at it, photos are really good to have for the insurance company
should a
disaster occur. You can pit them on a CD so they take up virtually no space
and put it in your safe deposit box or other off premise storage.

If your family doesn't care to try and sell your gear and you have no
trustworthy person to help, you can pre arrange a donation to a museum of
set it up
with an auction firm. That way, one phone call will take care of it when
the
time comes. Your survivor's decision at that point is wheather they want
cash
from an auction house or a tax writeoff from the museum donation.

John, W4AWM
