For me it is because my first receiver as a new ham was an S-38 that I
bought used at Henry Radio in Anaheim, CA.....so I will always be a
Hallicrafters man. BTW, I am new to the list, do you allow "mention" of the
Echophones that were built by Hallicrafters?

Subject: [Hallicrafters] Why I'm a Hallicrafters Guy

Because when I was little, my dad used to let me stay up on Saturday
night and listen to "Judy Canova" on his S-40A.

I never wanted anything else, though I bought a Ranger when I wasn't
finding the Hallicrafters I wanted.

As to the "not the best engineered", neither are Fords, but even though
I haven't had a Ford since about '67, I'll always be a Ford guy in my
heart. That's the way I was raised.

That said, affordability may have something to do with the fact that I
don't have any Collins or a Johnson 500.
