[Hallicrafters] SR Paint Finish

What is the paint finish on an SR (2000) cabinet called?
Mine is peeling, up to 5% missing on rig and 20% on ps.
It looks like crap. I dont know if its better to leave it
alone or paint with a like color with a different texture.
I think over spraying would be a waste of time.
If I have it bead blasted it will be a nice aluminium finish.
Not equipped to paint. Basement or yard only, with no spray
gear or painting savvy.
