These tasks don't find themselves on the enjoyable end of my boatanchor
joy scale. Although it was a SX-62, most all of the common faults
attributable to the SX-42 apply. Replacing the caps was not the
difficult part, extracting the IF transformer with itself and all
related wiring intact was. Worse can be removing Hammarlund HQ series
coils that suffer the fractured slug syndrome, in an attempt to remove
the broken slug and replace with an intact one. Some are buried
directly under the bandswitch and reaching mounting screws let alone
unsoldering the windings can be quite the character building experience.
