Joe, go to the HCI Web Site http://www.w9wze.org and select "SX-101
Lineage" from the left menu bar.  Info on all versions is available.  I
have read but not confirmed that a few late models of the MK-IIIA had a
product detector just prior to the production of the 101A.  Also, my
plain 101 does about as good a job as my 101A with respect to
demodulating SSB.  It has plenty of BFO injection, so minimal riding of
the RF gain control is necessary.
