You can't. Not accurately. You can tune in a BC station carefully, and
peak the IF's for max signal. A meter on the AVC line will help. Use the
coil in the oscillator and RF circuits for the lower frequencies in each
band and the trimmer cap for the higher frequencies. Adjust the osc coil
until a BC station of known low freq appears at the correct place on the
dial. Do the same for a high freq station. Then keep going back and forth
until both ends are correct, as they interact. Do the same for each band.
WWV appears on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, and 20 MC. If you have access to another
SW receiver, tune in a station at the low end of the band and adjust the
coils for that band on the S-40B until the same station appears at the
same dial setting on the S-40B. Then do the high end of the band. Adjust
the osc for freq and the RF for strength. Keep going over it until you
get no further improvement. If you have trouble, send it to me and I will
do it. No guarantee you will get it back, however. Good luck.
