google for "aade", neil has a boatanchor price guide. It's about
right for selling and a little low on the buy side.
There're a couple other price lists, again, use google, search
for "boatanchor price" or something like that.
Here's my sense for Heath,
SB's are between $100 and $200. Depending on condition and
completeness. A prime restored model is higher.
SB-200's run $250-$350.
SB-220's run $450-600.
The other amps are pricey too but not many change hands.
DX-100's are up there.
Most other large pieces are under $100. HW-32, HP-23, DX-60,
HW-16.
The smaller stuff? Almost not worth selling, give it away.
That said, my sense is that boatanchors are climbing in price.
I've been buying selected models on eBay and at 'fests. My
criteria is 1) sheetmetal, 2) complete components, 3)
front panel.
As these are 50 years old, Some caps and resistors have to be
replaced so it's pointless to worry about how well it works.
My goal is to have a 100% correctly working SB station. Get the
look and feel of 1963, which is when I got my first license.
I started this long term project in 2002 when a hand surgery went
bad and I had to flex my fingers to and through pain. What better
way than to clean SB-knobs, wipe down wires and polish an old
radio.
Since then, I've been on a boatanchor restoration kick.
I have almost zero interest in the newer radios. I find them
confusing, the gray on black panels are hard to read. 40-50
buttons. Weird concepts of ergonomics. Digital simulations of
analog meters. Knobs the size of toothpaste caps.
I'm also leary of the new uber-radios, IC-7800 and similar.
There are, what, thousands of components and interconnections,
layered construction, surface mount? One failure. Just one and
how do you fix it?
