Well i guess i think a little on the weird side then i would pull the bad 
tranny have it rebuild and then since the tuning capacitors are common to a 
lot of different rigs i would look for one of them or try to repair the bad 
one which i have done a number of times.
then i have two working SX 88's . but that is just me i HATE to see a radio 
that CAN be restored sold as parts see it all the time on one guys website..
