[Hallicrafters] A "preliminary" HT-37 look-see

Hi Phil,
I dont operate much these days so I am only offering an opinion. I dont
like the HT-37 for CW. It does sound good and gets good reports. You can
even get sidetone if you dont mute the rx in tx. My main gripe is
(unmodified) it has to be in MOX to work CW. The rx is switched off when
the 37 is in MOX, so you have to keep switching between MOX and Standby or
Cal. each time you change from tx to rx. I'm more concerned about wearing
out the switch than using it. There are a few different but similar QSK
mods that are easy enough to do. The PTT mod is a one wire and a two pin
mic. input change. I have 2 HT-37s One is modded the other is stock. I
enjoy them both when I can.
Good luck with the 37, 73 George KB2Z
