Though relatively unknown, the Rogers "Black Widow" would certainly qualify. 
I doubt more than 1000 of all six models were made in the brief history of 
Rogers - every one meticulously hand wired by Jim Rogers' wife.

I've been working on a story about the Black Widows, and hope to finish it in 
the fall.
