That's correct: in general, fair market value = the price the customer is
willing to pay.
In this case, whoever pays the asking price is a sucker, but it's still
fair.
For $1800 and even for $650, one could buy a REAL receiver, with excellent
performance. Uneducated customers are sometimes the best customers as far as
the sellers are concerned... If someone wants to pay that kind of money for
a mediocre - at best -  receiver, it's fine with me and I wouldn't grumble
about it.
No one is twisting anyone's arm to make the deal!

Another thing: greed is fine, as long as nobody is hurt or forced to be a
victim. As to a willing sucker - I don't care!
