Was your error message "H0004"?
 
I had a similar problem a couple of months ago with messages bouncing.  After several attempts, one message finally got through and it happened to be after I had changed one (and only one) word.  This led me to believe that there were content filters in place.  I was advised, however, that the problem was obviously with my ISP.  
 
As it turns out, that was not the case.  An email to the folks at qth.net brought the answer.  
 
"H0004 is the reject code for a message encoded as base-64 or more commonly referred to as an enhanced message (it has colors or some other stuff that's not plain text).  It's not HTML, but not plain text either.  Spammers use this to get by filters, so we reject them."
 
Maybe this issue is affecting you as well?
