My R46 arrived with some scuffing to the silver faceplate
trim (the framed "h").
Any suggestions as to the best way to fix this, please?
Also, someone appears to have tried to clean the metal
"screen" material that protects the speaker and in so
doing rubbed off some of the black coating.
Should I try to paint this with something or leave it
alone?
It doesn't look bad at a distance but is noticeable up
close and I worry about rust now that the coating has
been compromised here and there.
The R46 is otherwise in quite good condition, the
speaker appears intact and unpatched, the brown paper
ID tag/circuit diagram is still on the inside of the
case.
There is, inexplicably, a large open line antenna
alligator clip (such as used in the past with 300
ohm line) connected to both wires from the two
speaker terminals. Very odd since it cannot possibly
have worked shorted like that.
I think I may keep the R46 after all, it appeals to me
more now that it is here vs looking at pictures on the
Internet! I do still plan to sell my S-85 and SX-99.
