Those of us who have read the US Constitution and Federalist Papers know
that the primary purpose of our government is to protect the citizenry
from enemies foreign and domestic.
On those grounds neither the last election nor this one should show
anything other than a landslide for President Bush over Gore (then) or
Kerry (now) -- but for the gross failure of the government school
system to accurately teach civics & history.
As a result of 8 years of careless/timid foreign policy under Clinton we
saw massively increased terrorist activity and EU cowardice in the face
of conflict reminiscent of their pre-WWI and WWI foolishness --
something Kerry inexplicably seems bent upon reproducing (with
predictable negative consequences).
As one wise man has written, "Those who fail to learn the lessons of
history are doomed to repeat it."
If we allow ourselves to be manipulated into voting for the President
of the United States, the most powerful government leader in the
world, based on local RFI concerns we may just get the President
we deserve -- another dissembling mis-leader like impeached former
President Clinton.
I sure hope my fellow Hams are not so foolish as to vote for President,
or members of the US Congress, based on fears of RFI --- ignoring issues
of life vs death, freedom vs tyranny, action-Bush vs
inaction-Kerry/Clinton/Gore/Carter/Gephardt).
IMHO, YMMV, etc.
