Goodmorning All,
On a different note, the Timonium, Md. hamfest for saturday, was a complete
success for myself, and xyl.
Really lucked out in getting the indoor tailgate space, since the rains came
again.
As we were pulling gear out of our two vehicles to be set up on the display
tables, there were eager, early entrence hams that were buying items before the
show opened at 8am.
I had sold approx. $300-$400 worth of gear by 7:30 am. Wow.
Buyers did not even care if the rigs worked or not. I was totally upfront
about all my equipment, and what needed or may need to be done to get said piece
up and fully operational. I even had one HT-37 that I painted the top of the
cabinet an ugly bright green, since I ran out of the Halli. gray, and almost
didn't take this transmitter to the show. It was one of the first sold items,
and went to a very happy owner.
Just remember that these boatanchors are no longer made, and if you have a
clean item, inside and out, beleive me it will sell.
Pardon me as I have a moment of silence in memory of these fine boatanchors I
departed with yesterday. May the new owners enjoy them as much as I did, and
restore the ones I had waiting on the shelves for their turn with the shakey
soldering iron of yours truly.
Even if they were just sitting on the hamshack tables, or shelves, they made
quite a statement from an era of yesteryear. I will miss them all.
Oh geez, I guess I could start collecting some more. Quite, as I write down
my new wish list, and hide it from the xyl.
Thanks to all those whom visited "Boatanchor Cove", at the Timonium, Md.
hamfest.
73,
Rick/KB3EPJ

P.S. I still do have about 70 boatanchors left, so I can just sit and stare
at them all.
"I love you man"
