The Class "A" Citizen's Radio Service which allowed up
to 50 watts output using FM on the 460 MHz band is now
called the "General Mobile Radio Service" or "GMRS".
It is still going "strong".
The old Class "B" Citizen's Radio Service which
allowed low powered, free-running oscillator
transmitters (like the Vocaline 400 and 425) went the
way of the dodo bird in the early 1960s. Class "C"
Citizen's Radio Service which is for the radio control
of model airplanes, boats, cars, etc., is still very
much in existance.

As I recall CB existed before the takeover of 11
Meters. I think it was relegated to a few channels up
around 460 MHz (Class "A", maybe?). The explosion of
CB followed the 11M assignment. What happened to that
original UHF CB?
